Aloe Emodin (CAS 481-72-1, 1,8-dihydroxy-3-(hydroxymethyl)anthraquinone) is a natural
hydroxyanthraquinone compound isolated and purified from the root and rhizome of Rheum palmatum
(Chinese rhubarb) and Aloe vera. ZHII’s Aloe Emodin is a bright orange-yellow crystalline powder
with HPLC purity ≥ 95%, one of the five pharmacopoeia marker anthraquinones used for rhubarb quality control.

Botanical Source & Extraction
Aloe Emodin is extracted from dried rhubarb root and rhizome by ethanol percolation followed by
acid–base partitioning and silica column purification. The result is a free anthraquinone of high
crystalline purity, naturally plant-derived with no synthetic intermediates.
Applications
- Pharmaceutical intermediates – widely studied for antibacterial activity against
Staphylococcus and Streptococcus strains, plus anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor research. - Dietary supplements – traditional botanical ingredient in bowel-cleansing and
detox formulations. - Cosmetics – functional active for brightening, soothing and anti-aging skincare.
